ASU Gammage

Home to countless theatrical performances, Broadway touring shows, historic lectures and musical performances Gammage Auditorium’s stage has a history all its own. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the building is named for Grady Gammage, Sr. who was president of Arizona State University when the building was commissioned. Groundbreaking occurred after Mr. Gammage’s death and was subsequently named in his honor. Never a disappointment, the auditorium is innovative and acoustically nearly perfect. This amazing cultural icon of the southwest is a short walk from the Tempe rental house. Map

Tempe Town Lake

The concept originated in the mid 1960’s; to turn the Salt River bed running along Tempe’s northern edge, into a spectacular amenity. On June 2, 1999 water began flowing into the town lake after two years of construction. The inflatable rubber dams at either end of the lake allow it to function as a floodway when it needs to (the dams deflate to allow water to run through the lakebed). A wonder of modern engineering and an inarguable success story of urban planning, the Town Lake continues to be one of Arizona’s biggest tourist destinations.  Simply hop in your car, or even walk from your rental home to the Lake. Tempe Beach Park

Completed as an integral part of the Town Lake parks plan, the Beach Park is home to countless events throughout the year ranging from the JDRF Walk, Ironman, Concerts, Festivals including the ‘Way Out West’ Oktoberfest, New Years Eve Fireworks and Fiesta Bowl Block Party (past performances include Sugar Ray, Blues Traveler and Third Eye Blind). Enjoy an event or simply enjoy a day in the park at the edge of Tempe Town Lake. Map

Tempe Town Lake Marina

The 13-acre Town Lake Marina is located on the north side of Tempe Town Lake and south of the 202 Freeway at about College Avenue. The marina has a 5-lane boat launch ramp and 83 boat trailer spaces. Secured dry boat storage is provided in 52 of the 83 boat trailer spaces. There are another 144 vehicle parking spaces for the entire site.

The site contains a half-acre lagoon and marina to provide a safe water harbor for lake operations in case of flood conditions. The 23-boat slips store chase boats for the City's rowing program, as well as fire and police boats, and the Rio Lago Cruise concession boats. There is a approximately 550 square foot restroom building available to the public at the Marina. Restrooms include six stalls, two outside sinks and drinking fountains.
